The Boards of Directors however are very cognizant of the fact that the proposed amalgamation will shape the hockey landscape for these two organizations for many years to come. The Boards of Directors have therefore decided, in light of the time constraints to have the Amalgamation Proposal come to a vote and if successful be ready for the 2012-2013 season as an amalgamated association, that plans for amalgamation of LMHA and AMHA will be postponed to the 2013-2014 season. This will allow for the various Integration Teams to finalize a number of the outstanding issues between the two organizations and to allow for more input from the respective memberships and to provide for a more informative process.
The Boards of Directors have therefore approved that discussions regarding amalgamation will continue for the 2013-2014 hockey season and the various Integration Teams will continue on with their mandates.
Your Boards continue to sincerely believe that the changing environment for hockey in Ontario, as mandated by the policies of the OMHA and as promoted by the OHF and Hockey Canada will put undo stress and ultimately cause failure for small hockey centres which, simply put, are producing increasingly uncompetitive hockey environments for our children, both in their home programs and abroad and development programs are being compromised. As such, the amalgamation concept is the ultimate answer being encouraged by the OMHA to make the grassroots hockey centres stronger, more economically viable and encouraging development of our children to their highest and best level or to the level of their personal desire. Amalgamation will ensure our children’s opportunities and their choices are maximized.
Your Boards also advise that other local centres are continuing to propose amalgamation or have already amalgamated and as such, the viability of our individual organizations will be put at risk if we do not respond to the challenges of this new reality.
Your Boards truly and sincerely believe that the amalgamated organizations will provide a better and greater opportunity for all of our children in every aspect of their hockey experience.
