Major Midgets Beat Belle Rivers
The Major Midget Stars earned three tough points this past week to maintain their lead on top of The Bluewater Standings. Thursday evening The Stars faced off against the third place Belle River Canadiens, in Lakeshore.   The Canadians came out flying with extreme pressure, but with some solid defensive play from Ryan Wismer, Colton McGregor, Mike Lenson, Reed Thrasher and John Purdie; goaltender Thomas Demarco was able to keep the puck out of The Star's net.

The Star's line of Cory Burn, Mitch Holden, and Jacob Damico switched the momentum; when at the 10:29 point of first period, Cory Burns slipped in the puck off a beautiful pass from Holden.  Moments later it was Damico's turn as he went bardown off a pass from Burns to give the Stars the 2-0 early lead.  That would be all they needed, as the Stars controlled the game, and Thomas Demarco earned the shutout 3-0.  Burns, Damico, and Holden each finished the night with 2 points.  Coming off a big win the previous evening, Friday night The Stars would travel to Harrow, for a battle against Erie Shore.  With a sluggish start, and some early key penalties, The Stars found themselves trailing by two heading into the second period.  Zach Fritsch poked home a pass from Cory Burns to draw the Stars closer, and then the Line of Burns, Damico, and  Holden would strike once again to tie the game going into the third period.  In the third period, Josh Paquette and The Star's defence went to work; and put the clamps down on Erie Shore.    With 4 seconds left in the third, The Stars nearly stole the game as Damico hit the post, but the score ended at 2-2.  The Star's will resume The Back Yard Brawl next Thursday in Aburg versus The LaSalle Sabres.
