A great season comes to an end!
Time to put the skates away and get out the soccer balls and baseball bats.  We finished a great year with a tie; ending our season with 16 wins, 6 losses and 3 ties.  Our record was tops in the league although not quite good enough to finish first or second or third. LOL!  The kids gave it a great effort over the weekend and the coaches are very pleased with each of our players.  I want to thank Coach Chuck Morin and Coach Scott Jones for their support, sense of humour and hockey knowledge.

I want to thank Mike Orchard for assisting with the practices and Rob Way for taking photographs of the kids throughout the year.

I want to thank the parents for bringing the kids to the games and practices, getting their players dressed, and cheering all the players on!  It was nice to get to know you and I look forward to seeing you at the arena over the years to come

I also want to thank all the players on our team who were patient with the coaches, worked incredibly hard and gave a strong effort during all practices and games! The players were very passionate about the game, listened well and improved so much from the beginning of the year.  As individuals each of the kids were fun to be around.  As teammates they played better than their individual skills and made all the coaches and parents proud.

Our first year novice players were Keaton, Josh, Lexi, Ty, Jacob, Spencer Morin [Spaghetti] and Brendan.  From discovering Josh, a superstar goalie in the making,  to seeing and cheering the breakaway today by Keaton it was especially rewarding to see these young players develop.  The dressing room was always exciting as Spaghetti and Brendan were always telling anyone who would listen about their days, their weeks and their lives.  Lexi, Jacob and Spaghetti were our Select 7's and played at a high level all year.  Ty made incredible strides during the year.  His stick handling was exciting to watch and he will be one to follow as he gets older and stronger.  Keaton and Brendan were also hockey rookies [although Keaton had a little bit of experience] who became all around players as the year progressed.  Well done to our hockey and novice rookies!

Our second year novice players were Matt, Nathan, Dalton, Max, William, Spencer Morse, Adam and Cameron.  A mature group of players who were the steady force behind our team made up the core of our offence and defense.  From the natural scoring ability of Nate and Max, to the unselfish playmaking and passing by William, aggressiveness of Adam and new roles on defense for Spencer, Dalton and Matt, the senior novice players showed the younger players how to work hard during the games and practices.  Cameron showed everyone by playing your position that opportunities present themselves for scoring. The three senior defense had not played the position prior to this year and matured into solid two way players.

Our leading scorer this year with 34 points was Max, followed by Jacob with 32, William with 26, Nathan with 25 and Cameron and Adam tied with 14.  Very good job guys!  All kids had points this year, including at least one goal.

One last note:

As the AM800 team of the week we have a free McDonald's breakfast for the team.  I will talk to the coaches and we will let you know when we plan on having it.  After the breakfast,  coach Chuck wants the players to come back to his house for a final ball hockey game against the parents and the players' siblings.  We'll keep you posted as to the date and time and hope the kids can make it one more time.

Again, thanks to all, it was a great hockey season!

Coach Bob
