Today our team played a very hard and exciting game against the top Grey team. Although we lost 5-1 our team effort was excellent, much improved over our last two games. Missing two players we really had to shuffle the lines. Two of our normal forwards playing on defense today were Ryan P. and Rees. Both played their positions very well and tie for the White stars of the game. Great job guys! Not to be outdone our other three defense, Brayden, Jacob and Max also played very hard and put in a very strong effort, clearing the puck from our end and keeping the puck in the Grey end as much as possible.
Offensively we also played well, with Carson leading the way with his 11th goal of the season. Nice goal Carson! [cont'd]
Other forwards on Carson's line, Adam and Justin also put in a solid effort. The other line of Nathan, William and Cam played very solid hockey, forechecked very well and had a number of scoring opportunities. The boys had a few breakaways and other shots on net, but were stonewalled by a very strong Grey Goalie. Keep up the effort guys and we will get back to our winning ways. Another strong goaltending effort by Joey really helped the team today. He was real strong against a very potent offensive team smothering the puck every chance he had. Good job Joe!
Today the team really improved their effort. The kids skated very hard and really attacked the Grey team. Towards the end they were getting a little tired but continued plugging away. The coaches want to see the players continue to improve their forechecking in the offensive and neutral zones. We can't let the other team gain momentum, we have to attack them and force them to pass or shoot [or hopefully turn over the puck].
Other notes:
- Sunday practice is at 1:30 [rink B - if we have goalie equipment in the locker room we will have one player play goal so we can get our other players practicing their shots on a real goalie]
- Saturday Dec 10th game is at 11:00 [Rink A vs. Burgundy]
- Keep working on getting pledges for Hockey for Hospice. For those players who have not paid their $15 to me please remember to do so.
