Midget Minors Win-Lose-Draw
A three game weekend series found the 97 Star's with three different results!

The 97 Star's has a 3 game weekend which concluded with 3 different results. Friday nights home game was a 2-0 victory against visiting Erie North Shore keeping the Stars firmly on charge of that series. The scoring came late in the game with Mitch Holden scoring first assisted by Kyle Fockens and Avery Brush. Shortly after Spencer Benvenuto got the insurance goal off a pass from Cory Burns and an assist from the Star's goaltender Josh Paquette who also got the shutout!
Saturday found the Star's trailing Windsor at Adie Knox by 4 goals heading into the third. A comeback engineered by coach Glen Holden came up just short as the Star's fell 4-3. Goalie Wes Werner held up his  end of the plan throughout the third saving over 40 shots in the game. Mitch Holden would score the first goal unassisted.  Then Jordan Bastien was taken out illegally as he broke through Windsor's defense leading to a penalty shot. Bastien wouldn't miss his moment in the spotlight, he buried the puck bring Amherstburg within two.  With the clock winding down Spencer Benvenuto fed a pass over to Cory Burns, he put the puck on Mitch Holden's stick who then lit the red light with his second goal of the game. However, with 30 seconds left time simply ran out despite the efforts of a surging Star's offense.
Leamington hosted the Midget Minor's for the third game in as many days. This game would see many great glove saves by goaltender Josh Paquette on his way to the draw of 2-2. After a scoreless first, it would be Kane Morneau scoring the opener assisted by Spencer Benvenuto and Braeden Derksen. But the lead would last only seconds as Leamington responded with  the equalizer. The third period had many exciting opportunities both ways, but Leamington scored next taking a one goal lead. With just over a minute remaining Jordan Bastien stormed past the defense wrapping around the net giving the pass to Spencer Benvenuto who made no mistake in sealing the deal with the games tying goal. Great effort by AP's John Purdie and Jake Topliffe who were called up for this game. Final 2-2. Weekend series win, loss and a tie.
