Major Midget Stars Defend International Silverstick Title
The Stars were looking forward to defending last year's International Silverstick title with another win this year; in Petrolia over the Holiday.  With preliminary round wins over Mooretown (4-2), and Woodstock (4-0), the Stars skated right into the Championship game on New Years Day, where they would once again face-off against The Woodstock Navy Vets.  Knowing they would have to beat The Stars two games in a row, Woodstock seemed determined to extend the series to the next night.

Going into overtime tied 1-1, The Navy Vets took advantage of a bad bounce off the boards and slammed home the game winner.  They handed The Stars their first loss of the tournament, and set up a rematch for the championship the next evening.  In the Championship Game, The Stars struck first when Zach Fritsch put the puck on the stick of Cory Burns who gave the Stars the lead.  Moments later, The Stars made it 2-0 when Jacob Damico gave a through the legs pass to Garrett Meloche who went bar down.  Woodstock would not go away easy, as they came back to tie the score 2-2 going into the third period.  In the third, Mitch Holden would break the tie as he took a pass from Garrett Blunt to beat the Navy Vet's goaltender.  Later in the period, Cory Burns would score his second goal of the night, to seal the win and Silverstick Championship for The Stars.  With only two regular Season games left,The Stars look to stay on top of The Bluewater League when they play The Belle River Canadiens, and The Riverside Rangers this upcoming weekend.
