Major Midget Stars Sweep First Series Over Erie North Shore
The defending OMHA Major Midget Champions started their quest for another banner this past Friday evening at home, as they welcomed in a much improved Erie North Shore Storm.   The line of Mitch Holden, Kyle Meloche, and Garret Blunt combined for two first period goals to give the Stars a 2-1 lead heading into the third period.

In the third, Nick Bertram kept the puck in the offensive zone, and slid the puck to Cory Burns, who was able to slide the puck into the net for a 3-1 late lead.  With solid defensive play from Reed Thrasher, and Colton McGregor, Josh Paquette got the win for the Stars.  Both teams were looking to grab the pivotal game two Saturday evening in Harrow, but the Stars struck first when Mike Lenson dug a puck out of the corner, and put it on the stick of Jarrod Benninger for the first period goal.  Jacob Damico, and  Ernie Godden, both added second period goals to give the Stars a 3-0 lead heading into the third period.  In the third, Jarrod Benninger slammed home a rebound from Jake Topliffe, for his second goal of the night.  With solid defensive play from Ryan Wismer, Thomas Demarco sealed the win and the shutout for the Stars.   The Stars were looking for the sweep back home on Sunday afternoon.  With strong defensive play from Jarrod Smith and John Purdie, Josh Paquette was able to keep the puck out of the net in the first period, as the Storm were fighting hard for that first goal.   Again, it would be the Stars who struck first, as Zach Fritsch and Cory Burns combined twice for two second period goals.  The storm would not go away easy, as they fought back to tie the game heading into the third period 2-2.  Midway through the third period, Captain Mitch Holden stepped out from the corner with the puck, and stuffed it five hole to give the Stars the lead.  He would add another goal later in the period, and the Stars would win the game 4-2. Holden has the hot hand, with seven goals in his last four games. Brooms flew onto the ice, as the win gave the Stars the sweep of the series.  The Stars now wait to see who their next opponent will be.
