Last weekend the U18 HL Blue team attended the London Bandits Memorial Tournament.
In a hefty division with 20 teams, knowing we needed to make the top 12 to move on. We were matched up with all London teams in our round robin play, achieving 2 wins and a tie to put us in 5th place going into the quarter finals. Our opponent in the quarters was the 4th place Waterloo Timber Wolves but we were victorious and came away with a decisive 4-1 win to move us on to the semi final round.
On Sunday morning we had our work cut out for us as we faced the 1st place Innisfil Winterhawks, but we didn’t even give them a chance, coming away with a strong 5-0 win. We were thrilled to be advancing to the Championship game and were set to play a tough London Bandits team. This was the roughest game we had ever played, leaving the ice with multiple injuries, but also the coveted win! We beat London in a solid 4-2 decision (adding the 4th goal on an empty net with 23 sec left!) to take home the trophy!
Our Stars worked hard last weekend and played some great hockey!
