NotesThe Junior Spits scored first tonight, but it would be their last goal also as the 97 Star's came away with a 3-1 decisive win in Amherstburg. Although Windsor lead heading into the second period by a goal, the Bantam Minor's were controlling much of the play, with the help of new matchups including #93 Demers who played well after recently being called up. Halfway through the second period the Star's would tie it up when #7 Bastien would drive one into the corner of Windsor's net assisted by #2 Wismer. As the battle continued late in the second frame the Star's goalie #30 Werner once again stopped Windsor stone cold when he stopped a 2 on 0 break denying the Spit's the go ahead goal. The teams entered the intermission tied at a goal a piece. As the final period played out Amherstburg once again controlled the play but Windsor had many good chances too, the game remained tied until late in the third. At 3:21 remaining #8 Holden leading a rush down into the Windsor zone powered his way into the Jr. Spit's goal area and jammed it home unassisted for the eventual winning goal. With the Aburg Star's now leading 2-1 Windsor pressed hard as the clock wound down, in the final minute the Jr. Spit's pulled their goalie for the extra attacker. The Star's defence, backed by #30 Werner, once again denied Windsor, leading to a #7 Bastien sailing the puck into the Juniors empty net assisted by #2 Wismer again. With the insurance in place, the Star's buckled down and ran the clock to zero, resulting in an important win on home ice by a final score of 3-1 over Windsor. GO STARS !!!
