Notes
The Bantam 97 Stars moved ahead of the Rangers in the standings after a convincing win on their home ice tonight. The Stars came out fast and played a hard game leaving both teams scoreless after one. The second period was a back and forth battle including a sacrifice blocked shot by Pardo keeping the game scoreless. The Stars then opened up the scoring late in the second when Bastien lit it up with a short handed breakaway goal assisted by a nice lead pass from Derksen at 1:48. The Rangers then took a 5:00 major after Burns took one for the boys while helping out the defense. After the flood the 97's came out even harder in the 3rd and were rewarded at 10:49 when Holden forced the 2nd goal home with a helper from Lenson. The play then intensified resulting in Riverside taking a second major penalty for hitting from behind, also their second player to get a game misconduct in the contest. Derksen fortunately shook off the hit and didn't miss a shift as the Stars put a third goal on the board when Bastien got his second of the game assisted by Allen at 4:32. With over 3 minutes remaining Riverside pulled their goalie for the extra attacker after which the Stars got a penalty resulting in a six on three. After a flurry of shots, one snuck through the crowd putting the Rangers on the scoresheet with less than a minute left. After a steady performance and many great saves, Werner and the team would get the win they deserved. Final score Stars 3 Riverside 1 GO STARS !!
