Notes "Amherstburg Star's goal scored by #68 Avery Brush, assisted by #55 Lenson. Time of the goal 2:05 of the third." That may have been the only time the 97's put the puck in the mesh, but a greater achievement was managed by the team work and determination that only 9 players (and an outstanding goalie) were able to put out on the ice in a total lopsided game versus the first place Jr. Spit's on Tuesday night.
The Amherstburg Bantam Minor 97's were dealt a tricky situation when they played the 1st place team in the Bluewater League, and had to do it with almost half as many players. The 97's currently are skating with a very thin roster due to injuries, but despite this the team put on a very good battle against Windsor, scoring late in the game and in fact they nearly had the tie goal as well in the third period. Windsor's first goal was on a powerplay, the second occured only seconds after yet as another powerplay opportunity had just expired. Amherstburg's goalie #30 Werner was very solid in the crease, and all the 97 Star players earned the crowd's respect for nearly coming away with a point in this nearly impossible game situation. Games like these remind us that yes indeed "AMHERSTBURG STAR'S HOCKEY PLAYERS CAN WALK ON WATER"
GO STARS !!!
