NotesThe 97 Star's finished their season with a fantastic weekend series winning all 3 games at home! The final game was played Sunday evening when the Chatham Maroon's came back for one last chance to gain some points in the standings, but they would be denied by the hometown Star's. Amherstburg and Chatham both played good solid games in this second meeting in as many days, but it was the 97 Star's who opened the scoring in the second period after #9 Burns scored assisted by #8 Holden. Shortly after the Maroon's tied things back up when they scored making the score 1-1. As the period was winding down, #99 Meloche would score off a pass from #55 Lenson for what would become the game winning goal! After the intermission the Star's defence continued to step up to the plate and controlled the play backed by #30 Werner who was outstanding between the pipes all weekend long! Eventually the 97's got the insurance goal when #19 Rorseth assisted along with #9 Burns in getting #99 Meloche his second goal of the contest. The 97 Star's would end up winning this one 3-1 as well as gaining 6 points during the weekend home stand securely positioning themselves way in front of Chatham and Tecumseh in the final standings! Great job by all the players, both on ice and our injured young men, who all contributed to the record breaking season enjoyed by the 97's!! Finally, congratulations to the coaching staff who helped bring our young men through a successful season. Thanks to Ron Lenson, Jason Bastien, Gregg Meloche and Rick Wismer for a job well done!
