Notes
The Stars hit the ice in their home opener ready to battle the Tecumseh Eagles. Josh Paquette #33 was our goaltender for the night. With 9:13 left in the first period #19 Garett Meloche scored a power play goal, assisted by #5 Micheal Lenson, to give Amherstburg the lead. Less than two minutes later Tecumseh answered, followed by another with just slightly over a minute left in the first. The first period ended with Tecumseh in the lead 2-1. It was a relatively quiet second period until Tecumseh found the back of the net yet again with 1:33 remaining. Amherstburg's #91 Jordan Bastien scored with 41 seconds left before the buzzer, assisted by #6 Brent Allen. Victory was within reach with a score of 3-2 in Tecumseh's favour heading into the third. At 10:10 in the third Tecumseh scored but was quickly resolved by #9 Cory Burns, assisted by #11 Spencer Benvenuto. Tecumseh went on to score twice more leaving the final at 6-3. Shots on each goal were even at 23 a piece. Honourable mention to #4 Derkson and #96 Holden on a valiant effort defencively. Great increase in checking and passing by all the team. Good luck to our team as they head to Kingsville to take on Erie North Shore on Sunday. Go Stars!!!
