NotesThe Midget Minor's once again found themselves walking away with a single point after a tie score of 2-2 with Erie Northshore tonight. Erie started the scoring early, but the Star's were out to win this game. Late in the first Kyle Fockens stepped in to clear out a dangling puck sitting in the Star's crease keeping the lead at one. In the last few minutes of the period Amherstburg goalie Josh Paquette came up huge when he brought back a puck which teetered on his goal line. The one goal shortfall stood up until early in the second period when Spencer Benvenuto passed to Cory Burns who snaked his way into the crease and popped the puck top shelf over Erie's goaltenders shoulder for the Star's first goal of the game. Also in the second, while on the power play, Cory Burns feathered the puck through a crowd onto the stick of Kyle Fockens who found the mesh giving the Star's a 2-1 lead. Brent Allen nearly took it to a two goal lead when he narrowly missed the net during a frenzy in front of Erie's net. Northshore was shut down in the third when Ryan Wismer chased down a partial breakaway by Erie keeping the Star's narrow lead. However, Erie once again managed to score on one of their 22 shots to bring the game to a tie at a deuce. As the clock dwindled both teams took a turn with a two man advantage situation, but the defence stepped up and neither team was able to capitalize. For a second time in as many meetings, Amherstburg and Erie would have to leave satisfied with a point each, final score 2-2. The teams meet again on Saturday Oct 27th when the Star's will look to break the stalemate. Go Stars!!
