Notes
Amherstburg Minor Midgets travelled to Leamington Friday night for their second match of the season versus SouthPoint. The scoring started early in the first when Cory Burns chipped a pass to Spencer Benvenuto who beat SouthPoint's goaltender for the opening goal. A few minutes later the Star's would once again turn on the red light when Kane Morneau split the defense giving the puck to Cory Burn's who buried the puck making a 2-0 game. However SouthPoint came out in the second period with two unanswered goals knotting the game at a pair. Amherstburg, not wanting another tie game, picked up the pace again. Braeden Derksen's blistering slap shot popped off the goalies pad onto the stick of Cory Burn's who didn't miss a yawning net for his 3rd point of the night. Just before the intermission Jordan Bastien stole the puck behind the SouthPoint net and wrapped the puck into the net for an unassisted effort lifting the Midget Minor's to a 4-2 lead going into the third period. Defensemen Mike Lenson and Ryan Wismer kept the puck out of their zone to the disappointment of the Leamington fans for most of the final period, Josh Paquette continued strong play including stopping a puck which came crashing through his crease along with two SouthPoint players! The Star's would finish with a 4-2 win. Go Stars!!
