The Midget Minor's hosted Essex Ravens at the UCCU Rink A on Saturday night.  As the first period progressed both teams had their chances including Amherstburg hitting the crossbar's and post's a few times.  Star's goaltender Paquette withstood many quality scoring opportunities throughout the game.  The first period nearly ended scoreless until a last second scramble allowed the Raven's power play unit to sneak one past Paquette for the opening goal with only 2.8 seconds on the clock.  Early on in the 2nd period a shot from the point would bring the Raven's a two goal lead.  Again in the second the Star's would absorb another shorthanded goal putting them behind by three.  At what seemed like a turning point in the game Cory Burns would take one around the net and stuff it in for an unassisted effort, scoring the Star's first goal of the game.  The surge was on to preserve some points.  Josh Paquette shouldered a puck causing it to roll along the crossbar and off the backside of the net keeping the Ravens off the board.  After the intermission and some good coaching advice from Glen Holden the Star's came back out with a plan to bring this game under control.  The Midget Minor's seemed to dominate the game, after a lot of near tries in the Raven's zone Cory Burns found himself holding the puck behind the net with no apparent options.  Burns wrapped around the side of the guarded goal post and impossibly picked the corner over the goalies shoulder to score his second unassisted goal of the game.  With the Star's down only a goal now, the writing was on the wall.  A lone breakaway by the Raven's was shut down when Josh Paquette with the help of Mike Lenson ruined a near scoring opportunity for Essex.  Then as the clock ticked down the Star's offensive line pushed hard during a big scramble in front of the Essex net before Amherstburg's Garett Meloche would finally jam in the game tying goal unassisted at 6:41 remaining.   For the balance of the game it seemed to be all Star's but the game would end knotted at three.  For the second time in as many meetings this season these two opponent's would have to be content with a tie result.  Final Score 3-3  The rematch will be played Sunday Nov 18th at Essex Arena  Game time 6:00.    Go Stars!!
