Notes
Friday night found the Amherstburg Star's Midget Minors hosting the Belle River Canadiens AA team for the first time this season. The games tone was set early as a penalty laden affair, with the teams both filling the box achieving nearly 50 minutes of served penalty minutes before it was all done. Amherstburg's goalminder Josh Paquette stood up to a barrage of quality shots throughout a hard played game. After 2 quick Belle River goals in the first the Star's came storming back to bring it within one when Cory Burn's and Braeden Derksen assisted leading to Jordan Bastien's goal at 7:03 of the first period. Despite hard work by Amherstburg's defense the deficit increased until the Star's got their second and final goal of the game when Garett Meloche negotiated his way past two Canadien players to score unassisted at 1:04 of the second. As the parade to the penalty box continued, the outcome was not in the Star's favour, they fell to Belle River by a final score of 7-2. The Star's will be back in action this Friday night when they play the Lasalle Sabres.
