Notes
Midget Minor's shut down South Point once again! The fourth meeting between the Midget Minor Star's and the South Point Capital's came Saturday night at the UCCU and once again Amherstburg picked up valuable points with a convincing 4-1 win. The Star's got on the board first when Jordan Bastien set up Mitch Holden who scored the opening goal at 5:12 of the 1st. Immediately after, with the Capital's on the power play, Spencer Benvenuto broke through shorthanded to score unassisted putting the Star's up by a deuce. In the closing seconds of the period Mike Lenson stepped in to save a seemingly sure wrap around goal by South Point. The second periods only goal came when Avery Brush and Mitch Holden controlled a two on one which ended with Holden drawing the goalie out of his net and then flipping it into the top corner for his second goal in as many periods. The Star's kept the pressure on after the intermission bringing it up to 4-0 as Mike Lenson's pass assisted on Kyle Fockens power play goal early in the third. Josh Paquette's outstanding goal tending almost got the shutout until late in the game when the Capital's snuck one by him making the final score 4-1. The Star's went undefeated versus South Point this season. Come see the Stars Midget Minor's this Saturday night as they host the Essex Raven's, game time 8:10 PM. Go Stars!
