Notes
Midget Minor's go undefeated against Essex! The fourth matchup between the Midget Minor Star's and the Essex Ravens came Saturday night at the UCCU and the Star's walked away with a solid 5-2 victory. The Star's started the scoring early when Mitch Holden started the scoring assisted by Cory Burns and Brent Allen. As the period came to a close Cory Burns chipped one around the defense up to Spencer Benvenuto who fed the puck to Michael Lenson, he scored when he popped it in the top corner with one second remaining. Early in the second period Spencer Benvenuto hit the mesh completing a 3 on 1 rush that included Ryan Wismer and Cory Burns. Wismer assisted again when he fed a pass to Mitch Holden, who then chipped it up ice to Jordan Bastien who rocketed the puck past the Essex goaltenders glove just below the crossbar. With a four goal lead Essex continued to battle eventually getting one past the solid goaltending of Amherstburg's Wes Werner, late in the second. In the third period the teams would trade goals. Ryan Wismer and Spencer Benvenuto would both assist on Mitch Holden's breakaway goal giving each of the trio a three point night! Werner kept Essex to only two goals, final score 5-2. The Star's finished undefeated versus Essex Ravens this season. Come see the Stars Midget Minor's this Saturday night as they travel to Belle River for their last meeting of the regular season. Go Stars!
