Notes
The Star's played their first of two games this Saturday against a strong team from Mt. Clemens, MI. The teams both came out hard as both teams were undefeated thus far in the tournament. The first period seemed to find both teams sizing one another up. Amherstburg's roster was improved and it showed, with the recent return of both Avery Brush and Garett Meloche into the line up, it seemed like the Star's had a strong chance to win this game. As the second period began the tone of the game changed into a penalty laden affair. It now appeared that penalties would play a deciding factor in the outcome with over 60 minutes served before the games end. Mt. Clemens scored first in the 2nd period giving the Star's a one goal deficit. Then later in the period the Wolves would once again score during a 5 on 3 power play now bringing them ahead by a pair. The Star's defense including Braeden Derksen and Michael Lenson played a hard game keeping a surging Mt. Clemens offence off the board backed by Josh Paquette in net. Late in the third the Wolves would score an empty netter as the Star's put the extra man on in an attempt to score. Amherstburg played a great game, this was actually the lowest even handed allowed goals against versus this team, and the Mt. Clemens team were the eventual tournament winners.
