Notes
The Midget Minor's hosted Erie Northshore for a Sunday matinee game at the UCCU which would see the Star's advance to the next tier of the OMHA playdowns after a convincing victory by a score of 6-3. Mike Lenson's slapshot rebounded off the goalies pads over to Kane Morneau who delivered it to the waiting stick of Cory Burns who opened the scoring at 7:18 of the first. Less than a minute later Ryan Wismer gave it again to Cory Burns who came in tight on the Erie goaltender before picking the top corner for his second goal of the match. Moments later Ryan Wismer once again assisted when he fed the puck down the boards to Mitch Holden who drove past the Northshore defense and roofed the puck bringing the Star's ahead by 3 goals going into the second period. Braeden Derksen came up big when he took out the puck and the player during an Erie three on one chance, keeping the score at 3-0. Eventually Northshore scored on a powerplay, one of the few that would get past great goaltending by the Star's Josh Paquette. Later in the second Jordan Bastien would put a nice rebound in front of Mitch Holden who instead gave the puck back to Bastien who buried it to regain a three goal cushion for the Star's. Early in the third Erie would again score on the powerplay with a screen shot from the blue line. However Mitch Holden scored unassisted less than a minute later for his 3rd point of the game, Star's lead 5-2. As the game wound down, Erie scored their third powerplay goal during a two man advantage. It would not be enough as the Star's kept control of the game, which ended with Mike Lenson giving the lead pass to Spencer Benvenuto who got the empty netter. Final score 6-3 Star's. The Amherstburg Midget Minor Star's now join the Riverside Rangers in the next level of the OMHA playdowns. Go Star's!
