Notes
The Midget Minor Star's came up just short this Tuesday night at the UCCU in a well played game between two rivals. The scoring was started by Lasalle as they came up with the first two goals including a power play goal, while Wes Werner turned away many quality scoring chances as well, during a game in which he would face over 50 shots. Half way through the second period the Star's #11 Spencer Benvenuto would come up big with a shorthanded breakaway goal which he flipped in after pulling out the Sabre's goalie. Later in the second the Star's now trailing 3-1 would once again find a shorthanded goal when Amherstburg's #7 Jordan Bastien would intercept a Lasalle pass and proceed to fire the puck in just below the crossbar for the Star's second shorthanded goal of the night. With 46 seconds left in the period #9 Cory Burns would wrap around the Lasalle net, then jam the puck several times into the Sabre's goalie until he finally powered it through for the game tying goal heading into the third period. As the third period played out, penalties would leave the Star's shorthanded again leading to Lasalle taking a 4-3 lead and then eventually getting an empty netter insurance goal to achieve a final score of 5-3 for Lasalle. The Star's next travel to Chatham on Sunday March 17th for another great match up. Go Stars!!
