Notes
Tuesday night's home game at the UCCU saw the Midget Minors defeat Erie Northshore during a convincing 6-0 victory! Once again these two opponents battled through a hard hitting game and again the Star's walked away with the win. After a scoreless first, the Star's scored the opener early in the second with a nice tic tac toe pass from Cory Burns to Ryan Wismer was finished off by Jake Topliffe who scored. Later in the period the Midget Minor's scored 3 goals within a 80 second span starting with Spencer Benvenuto's lead pass to Garrett Meloche, he passed it to Joel Rorseth who put it in the mesh for a 2-0 lead. Moments later it would be Mike Lenson pushing the puck through to Joel Rorseth then feeding it to Garrett Meloche who banged it home bringing the Star's up by three. The third quick goal came when Kyle Fockens and Garrett Meloche threaded a pass to Spencer Benvenuto's stick which he drilled in for Amherstburg's 4th goal. Late in the period Star's goalie Wes Werner ruined an Erie 3 on 1 opportunity on his way to another shutout performance. The third period was once again all Star's including Mike Lenson forcing a turnaround in the Erie zone resulting in Cory Burns top corner laser shot to make a five goal lead. In the remaining moments Spencer Benvenuto once again fed a breakaway pass to Joel Rorseth, after a pad save he directed the puck back to Jordan Bastien who wasted no time in shooting the 6th goal of the game into the yawning Erie net. A strong defense and great play between the pipes got Wes Werner his shutout and the Star's a solid 6-0 win! The Star's have three games in a row this weekend, be sure to catch the action. Go Star's !!
