Notes
The Midget Minors faced the Windsor Jr Spits at Adie Knox for their final match up of the season Sunday night. The Star's played hard all 3 periods but came up short as they ended up on the short side of a 6-2 final. Power play goals definitely contributed to Windsor's final tally, but there were plenty of penalties both ways in this meeting. Star's goalie Wes Werner faced over 50 shots before it was all over and stood strong through many quality scoring opportunities with the help of Amherstburg's defence. A couple of game highlights for the Star's were some great physical play by the defence teams, and a strong showing by the AP's who have been stepping up for the team also. A great point shot from AP Jack Hubbell was perfectly tipped in by Jordan Bastien for the Star's first goal. Amherstburg's second goal came when Cory Burns during a two on one sent the puck across to AP Jake Topliffe who fired it into the open side of the net. Despite the final score, all of the Amhersturg players stepped up and gave a 100% effort throughout. Tonight will find the Midget Minors at home for a 7:00 start against Southpoint for what will be the last regular game of the season, it will be sure to be a great one! Go Stars!!
