The Star's wrapped up their season series with the Essex Ravens on Saturday night at the UCCU. The Essex Ravens failed to find a way to secure a victory over the Star's all year, the Midget Minors scored the win once again with a final score of 5-3.  This was a good physical game between both teams leaving a scoresheet full of penalties and scoring!  The Star's started the scoring in the first when Kane Morneau fed the lead pass to Cory Burns who in turn passed the puck to Spencer Benvenuto who flipped the puck into the net.  Later in the same frame Benvenuto returned the favour when he assisted along with Ryan Wismer in setting up Cory Burns first goal of the night putting the Star's up by two heading into the second period.  The Midget Minor defence came up big chasing down a Essex breakaway and popping the players stick off the puck before he got his shot off.  However, later in the period Essex would come back with two quick goals tying the game at a pair.  It would late in the period when Reid Thrasher would come up huge putting the perfect pass onto the stick of Spencer Benvenuto at the blue line, he skated it and drilled the puck in lower blocker side for his second 3 point performance in as many games!  After the Zamboni cleared the ice the Ravens came out determined to get at least one victory this season against the Stars  Early  in the third they managed to tie the score at 3, but that would be their last surge as it was all Amherstburg afterwards.  The Star's took the lead for good when Kyle Fockens passed to Jordan Bastien, his shot off the goalies pads left a huge rebound which was driven home by #68 Avery Brush for the game winner!  As the clock ticked down to the last two minutes Ryan Wismer picked up another assist when he gave the puck to Cory Burns who pushed himself and the puck through the Essex net for his second goal of the game, giving the Star's insurance for the close of the game.  Despite a power play and the Essex goalie  pulled, nobody was getting past the Star's goalie Josh Paquette in the final minutes of the game, as he blocked shot after shot to get the victory along with his team mates!  Final score 5-3   Tonight will see the Star's look for their 3rd win in a row when they travel to Adie Knox Arena for a 7:00 match up with the Windsor Jr. Spitfires, a game you don't want to miss.  Go Stars!!
