Peewee Minor Food Bank Donation
On Friday, August 30 the boys donated roughly 1000 canned and non-perishable food items to the Amherstburg Food Bank.
The food bank volunteers commented that this was the single largest donation in the history of the program. As part of a summer long initiative, the boys collected, delivered, sorted, and helped stock the goods. In addition, the food bank volunteers facilitated a brief information session with the players about the work the food bank does for the community. Players also asked questions and had time to reflect on the needs of the community. As one player noted, "If we have the ability to help, we should."
The coaching staff is thankful to the food bank staff for allowing our players this wonderful opportunity to contribute positively to the community. Additionally, the coaching staff is incredibly proud of the boys for their hard work and exceptional representation of the team and AMHA!
A final big thank you goes out to the parents for transporting all the goods and to the numerous and very generous individuals of the area who donated to our initiative. Without all of you, this does not happen!
