97 STARS BEGIN OMHA PLAYDOWNS TODAY !!
The Bantam Minor 97's start their playdown quest later today when they host the Riverside Rangers at 5:00 PM. The
The 97 Star's will host the Riverside Rangers in the first game of a best of five series to be played over the next 8 days. The Stars will host game one, then games two and three will go back to Riverside's home rink WFCU before returning back to Amherstburg next weekend for game 4 and then finally game 5 would be back at the Ranger's home rink. Both teams are starting off in the OMHA Group 1 division along with St. Thomas, the overall winner will proceed to the quarter finals eventually. There are five groups made up of over 20 Bantam Minor A teams from all over Ontario that compete to get to the quarter finals and then eventually the semi finals. The top two finishing teams play for the elusive Charles Wilson championship trophy which would be a great addition to any trophy case! Last years champions were the Minor Oaks from Oakville Ontario.
The 97 Star's will be ready to battle hard today against their division rivals Riverside Rangers. Both teams have found victory this year against the other so it promises to be a 60 minute battle. Each team wants to take home this important first win in the 5 game series. The Amherstburg 97 Star's will also be welcoming the Rangers into the brand new Amherstburg Recreation Complex and you know the Star's will work hard to take home their first playdown game win in the new facility.
