AMHERSTBURG '97 STARS begin 2nd round playdowns tonight !
The Amherstburg '97 Stars will start round two of the playdowns tonight when they play host to the St. Thomas Jr. Stars at the Amherstburg Recreation Complex, the puck drops at 6:10 PM. (cont'd)
The 97 Stars are prepared and ready to begin the second round of the OMHA playdowns after sweeping their first series against the Riverside Rangers. The St. Thomas Jr. Stars come in well rested after a first round bye and today will be the first playdown game of their season. This game will be a critical one in the series as the Amherstburg Stars will head for a two game stand in the St. Thomas home rink next weekend for games 2 and 3. The Aburg 97's are ready to battle hard and will be going full out to take home the first win in the series with the hometown crowd behind them. Both teams have met twice before in the season resulting in a 7-5 win and a 3-3 tie for the Aburg 97's. The teams are playing the first of a best of five series, the winner advances to the quarter finals of the OMHA playdowns in pursuit of the Charles Wilson Championship trophy.
