Novice Maroon - 2/15 Update, News, Maroon, Novice House League, 2010-2011 (Amherstburg Minor Hockey Association)

Another exciting offensive game. We were off to a slow start but managed to forge ahead and play our game. Once again we were short handed missing (3) players (J.Colombe, J.Desantis, F.DeAngelis) but our team pulled together and overcame the adversity... 

...which is a very positive sign.  Some refer to that as "Character" and is not always present in teams, but we venture to say it's part of ours.   :)  

A.Kelly faced a lot more shots in net then we would have liked, but he stood tall and made some key saves when we needed him to.  Orange played a very strong game and kept the pressure on, and as a result the score was close throughout. We feel that our team is continuing to perform well in most areas, especially regarding positioning.  This allows for increased scoring chances as our players continue to pass the puck more.   All in all, another good week where our kids steadily improve, while seemingly enjoying the game.

Our Goalie situation remains a dynamic one. :)   We are not sure who will be playing in net on which dates, but we will attempt to keep the Nov. Maroon Goalie Sched updated. A lot will depend on what games are part of the playoffs and which ones are exhibition.  Again, we don't want to emphasize too much too soon regarding playoffs, but in the coming weeks we will inform the kids of the format.

We are awaiting confirmation on what the next few weeks might look like, but as of now it appears to be this:

• 2/19 will be game #2 in the best of 3 series
• 2/26-2/27 is up in the air (the S7 team will be out of town for a Tournament)
  
• 3/5-3/6 there will be no hockey due to the Old-timers tourney
• The weekends before and after March break (12-13th / 19-20th) may be Exhibition games due to players being away
• 3/26-3/27 is tentatively the Day of Champs weekend (typically 2 games on Sat. or Sun. -  1vs.2 and 3vs4)
  

Again, none of this has been finalized but we wanted to convey as much information to you as possible, as early as we could.   As a friendly reminder - for games please have your kids fully dressed and ready to go before the Zamboni is on the ice. We want to utilize the 10 minutes before game time to go over some key points. We're hoping the DryErase / Chalk boards are up in the dressing rooms soon...    :-D
