After the low point in our season at the beginning of the month we are continuing to make strides playing a disciplined game, with good positioning and good team work. Our improvement continues with strong support from good goal tending, [solid game today Josh] and very strong defense, [hats off to Spencer, Lexi, Spencer and Matt]. With a solid back core our offensive players have been able to play their forward positions with most of the play in team Blue's end today, excellent positioning in front of the net, great forechecking in the corners and excellent passing from the corners to our opposite wingers in front of the net.
Great offense with Jacob leading the way, with one goal and two assists, William with two goals including an awesome back hand, Max with one goal and one assist, Cameron with two assists and Lexi with a nice goal near the end of the game!
We saw some well defined passing today, a continued improvement over our previous games. The line of Nathan, Dalton and Ty played real well in front of Blue's net, passed to each other and had numerous shots. Keep it up boys! Our line of Max, Cam and Keaton really played their positions well and stopped Blue from coming out of their own end with some real good forechecking. The dominant offensive line today was Jacob, William and Brendan. Again solid positioning, solid passing and good shots on net. Overall a well played team effort!
Other notes:
- Public Skating happens on Sunday's from 1:30 to 3:30 Rink A, and 2:00 to 4:00 Rink B. Try to get out with your friends and siblings and get those legs moving. Extra skating benefits everyone! ($3 per person/$7 per family)
- Sunday practice is at 10:30, with Spaghetti in net.
- Next Saturday's game is at 4:30 [Rink B] against Maroon. [Spaghetti in net].
- January 29th and 30th have special events planned for the new arena. Get your families' out to the events and enjoy the new complex. Bring your relatives to our game on Saturday to cheer on our team!
- Lexi, Spaghetti and Jacob [and the rest of the Select 7's] play Sunday, Jan 23rd at 4:00 against a very good Belle River team [Rink B]. I'm sure the kids would love to see you come out and support them. The hockey is great and the real NFL game doesn't start until 6:30 {sorry Bears and Packers fans}. Try to come out to support your teammates!
