Tough game; But good effort!
On Saturday, we played another exciting game against a very strong offensive Red Team, and gave it a real hard effort. We stayed with them including leading a couple of times but some bad luck with penalty calls gave them an edge we just could not overcome. We scored 6 goals, two from Max, two from Nate, one from Adam and one from William. Good job guys. We are continuing to progress and look forward to meeting Red again to show them we are going to battle hard and shut down their offense.
Our defense continues to progress and with our continued focus on checking and defense in practice we will work on shutting down the offensive players on the other teams. The kids are responding real well to their lines, their proper positioning and continue to work on the strength of their shots. In practice we will continue with a lot of one on ones, showing our defense how to position themselves and keep their opponents from attacking from the middle of the ice. We will work on getting our forwards to forecheck and be in the proper position for breakouts from our own end.

Next Saturday we play Orange at 8:00 [rink A with Josh in net]
Next Sunday we practice at 10:30 [rink A with Maroon; Josh in net]
Remember to get the kids out to public skating to work on their skating skills, primarily speed, cross-cuts and directional changes.
Also get the kids outside or in the basement practising their shots. The coaches want to see more power on passes and shots on net.
