The defending OMHA Major Midget Champions started their quest for another banner this past Friday evening at home, as they welcomed in a much improved Erie North Shore Storm. The line of Mitch Holden, Kyle Meloche, and Garret Blunt combined for two first period goals to give the Stars a 2-1 lead heading into the third period.

The Stars were looking forward to defending last year's International Silverstick title with another win this year; in Petrolia over the Holiday. With preliminary round wins over Mooretown (4-2), and Woodstock (4-0), the Stars skated right into the Championship game on New Years Day, where they would once again face-off against The Woodstock Navy Vets. Knowing they would have to beat The Stars two games in a row, Woodstock seemed determined to extend the series to the next night.

Five members of The Major Midget Amherstburg Stars were selected to participate in the 2014 Bluewater All-Star Game and Skills Competition the previous weekend in Lakeshore. On Team White, forwards Jacob Damico, Cory Burns, and Mitch Holden were joined by defencemen Ryan Wismer and Goaltender Thomas Demarco. The Weekend consisted of an skills competition, where The Stars represented themselves well as Jacob Damico won fastest forward skater and highest vertical jump, Cory Burns won fastest obstacle course, and Ryan Wismer won hardest shot and fastest backwards skater. Ryan Wismer was crowned as the overall winner of the skills competition.
